Review:

Soorma is a story of a hero who turned out to be a player in making not for the country. Directed by Shaad Ali the film is about determination and hard work that goes into achieving a goal no matter if it is love or becoming the best drag flicker of the world.
While Sandeep Singh the former captain of the Indian Hockey team is the star of the film, Soorma is narrated by Harpreet Kaur his love and inspiration. The story begins with Taapsee's voiceover as Harpreet Kaur reminding the audience who is and who the story is about. Not diving too much into Sandeep's childhood the story quickly lets us know almost everyone in Shahabad, Haryana, aspires to play for the Indian hockey team.

Sandeep who hated training under his coach decides to quit because of his abusive behavior and spend his free time on the family farm. Years later he comes back to the same coach merely because he wishes to spend more time with striking hockey player Harpreet Kaur.

Diljit Dosanjh plays the star of each match and the film as throughout without missing a beat while Taapsee hand in hand makes an impact on the story. The film manages to give moments of glory to all the supporting characters from Angad Bedi as the supportive older brother Vikram to Vijay Raaz as the Bihari coach.

With humor supporting the heartwarming scenes the script keeps you engaged till the end when we get to see the real-life hero, Sandeep Singh receiving the Arjuna Award from the President of India in 2010.
Verdict: The real-life story is portrayed with incredible *** stars
