Review:

Recently there have been a lot of Netflix movies inspired by famous books and I out of all of those I think Dumplin is the best. Any by that I mean decent enough.
I have also reviewed the other ones like, To all the boys I have loved before, and Love Simon.
At first I was shocked to see Jennifer Aniston in the movie. I was aware of Dumplin being turned into a movie but nowhere I was expected Jennifer to be a part of it. Because her being a part of the film makes a huge difference.

The film starts with narration, that's a staple for books adaptations but this one doesn't feel off or took out there. Dumplin, aka Willowdean Dickson, aka Will tells us her childhood story. About her mom, her best friend Ellen Dryver, her aunt Lucy and their love for Dolly Parton, her life lessons and songs.
Will the daughter of former pageant queen Rosie Dickson, thinks her mother is ashamed of her body. Brought up by Lucy she was always taught to be proud of herself, and never let anyone tell her who she should be. But after she dies, Will's world comes crumbling down, surviving the pageant season with her mother becomes harder.
She it gets worse when Will signs up for the pageant in protest.
The movie equally touches all aspects that it wants to talk about, Dolly Parton, Fat shaming, beauty ideals in Pageants, teenage love and friendships.
But because it talks equally about all of it, at times its harder to understand what the movie really wants to talk about, Will dealing with the loss of her aunt, Rosie dealing with the loss of her sister, or Will finding a way to get closer to her mother now that her aunt is gone.
Don't get me wrong, the movie is amazing, Danielle Macdonald as Will brings the character so close to you and even though Roise is the bad guy (sort of) Jennifer Aniston makes you feel for her so much. I was so sad and so happy at the end of the movie.

More than I had been at the end of To All The Boys I Have Loved Before or Love Simon.
Verdict: Dumplin makes you feel warm, cozy while you miss being with someone you love.
