***1/2
Queer as a Five Dollar Bill is a story about Wyatt Yarrow who wants to believe in himself and the people around him. Written by Lee Wind the book is a coming out story that is more about acceptance and equality for everyone.
I had a lot of fun while reading the book. Even though at the start it didn't seem like a very impactful read with basic and simple writing but half way through there was no way I'd give up even for a second.

Bonus: The swoon moments between Wyatt and Martin had me squealing.
Fifteen year old, Wyatt Yarrow lives in Lincoln slept here Bed and breakfast, Lincolnville, Orgeon. As the name suggests the entire town trives by Lincoln history and worships the former President.
Unable to come out to his parents and his best friend turned girlfriend, Wyatt finds hope in the conservative town while working on his class project. He discovers Abraham Lincoln all those years ago was in love with his best friend Joshua Speed.
Hoping if the town would accept Abe as gay they would accept him too, Wyatt writes his blog post announcing the truth. However what happens next turns Lincolnville into Queerville and the entire nation in chaos.
Wind's simple writing remarkably captures not only the big issue of the book, which is equality and LGBT rights, Wyatt coming out but also the subtle story about his relationship with his parents, Martin, and Mackenzie (Best Friend) and his struggle with the town.
Overall the book leaves you with more than you asked for and the writing actually works in the books favor.
